Academy partners with Xledger to launch virtual careers fair

The Bristol Bears Junior Academy virtual careers fair, in association with the Academy principal partner, Xledger, will continue in March.

This is one of a series of webinars aiming to support players on U16s Bears Excel and Aspire programmes, by providing career development opportunities as well as delivering mental health and wellbeing advice.

Covering a range of industries including medical and healthcare, education, IT, tech, and law, the careers fair will feature guest speakers including Bears players and staff and Xledger representatives.

Junior Academy Manager Gary Townsend said: “It’s an incredibly challenging time for the young people involved in our programmes. As part of our wider purpose of supporting and developing the person and not just the rugby player, it’s vital we continue to innovate and find ways to provide for their physical, social, emotional and mental wellbeing.

“At a time when there is uncertainty over GCSES, we’re pleased to work with Xledger in providing expert discussion and advice from leaders across the sport and business spectrum.

“We’re proud to be in partnership with Xledger and thank them, not just for their support to the Academy, but for their enthusiasm and willingness to play a tangible role in adding value to our young people.”

Mark Pullen, Xledger UK CEO said: "“At Xledger we are excited to be leading the internship programme for promising Bristol Bear Junior Academy players. As a family-orientated organisation, supporting young people in gaining valuable work experience is a priority for us and we look forward to being involved in the virtual careers fair next month.”
