Charlie Amesbury has announced his departure from Bristol Rugby at the end of the season.
The winger – who has made 47 appearances for the Club, scoring twenty tries – joined Bristol Rugby ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.
Studying MSt in Social Innovation at Queens College, Cambridge University, Amesbury will captain the Cambridge University RFC team ahead of the 2017 Varsity clash.
“I enjoyed my time with Cambridge University RFC in 2016 and this is a good opportunity to captain the team ahead of Varsity and take on the leadership role,” said the 30 year-old utility back.
“It promises to be a fantastic learning curve and I’ve always looked to continually push myself. I have loved my thirteen years in professional rugby and now it’s time for the next challenge.
“For me, each year is about finding a fresh challenge and the time is right to leave Bristol, even though the backing from the supporters – and the Club – will make it hard to leave.
“I have utmost respect for the players and management and wish them all the best. Until the end of the season, I’ll be here fighting tooth and nail to ensure Bristol’s Premiership status.”
