Amesbury Scoops April's Player Of The Month

Charlie Amesbury has been named April’s Greene King IPA Championship Player of the Month.

Amesbury scored four tries in April, with two against Jersey and one versus Worcester, capping a superb four weeks for the winger, who turned 29 in the same month.

Having joined Bristol from Sale Sharks ahead of the 2013/14 campaign, the former England Sevens international has featured 13 times for the west country side in all competitions this season, including Sunday’s semi-final win over Rotherham Titans.

Commenting on the announcement, the winger told bristolrugby.co.uk: "I'm delighted to have been voted Player of the Month and I'd like to thank everybody who took the time to cast a vote.

April was a good month for me personally, and also for Bristol Rugby. We're working hard as a group and now all our efforts our focused on the first leg of the final against Worcester on May 20.”

Worcester’s Chris Pennell was narrowly pipped to the post by Amesbury, who won by just thirty-three votes. Sean Scanlon of Rotherham Titans came in third.

April’s award is the final of the 2014/15 campaign, with the Greene King IPA Championship final set to take place on May 20 & 27.
