Andy Short will leave Bristol Rugby at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
The winger – who has made forty-two appearances since a debut in 2013 – has agreed terms to join another club in the Greene King IPA Championship.
Short has scored eighteen tries in the blue and white hoops, including four during the current season.
“We’re disappointed to see Andy leave because he has worked hard to gain a regular first team place at Bristol – we feel he has developed well here,” Director of Rugby Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“We are absolutely focused on our season goals and we can’t afford to have anybody in the squad who isn’t wholly committed to that aim.
“That’s nothing personal to Andy who is a good professional, but agreeing to join a promotion rival at such an important time of the year could serve as a distraction.
“As a result, we will be exploring loan options elsewhere for Andy for the remainder of this campaign.”
Short added: “I’d like to thank the coaches, players and supporters at Bristol Rugby. I’ve had a fantastic time at the Club and I’m grateful for the opportunities I have been given.
“I’ve enjoyed my rugby here and my experiences in the blue and white hoops have been a positive one.”
