As it happened: Bristol Bears 22-29 Wasps

Bristol Bears came up short of another stirring comeback against Wasps, as they fell to a 22-29 defeat at Ashton Gate on Friday.

6 minsPEN3-0 - Madigan opens the scoring for the hosts after barnstorming break from Vui in the wide channels. Strong start from Bristol Bears.

11 minsTRY3-7 – The first try of the night goes to Wasps, as Thomas Young rumbles over from driving lineout after Searle kicks penalty to the corner. Searle converts.

35 minsTRY3-12 - A second for Wasps, as hooker Tom Cruse goes over in the right-hand corner after period of pressure inside the Bristol 22. Wasps right on top now.

38 minsTRY3-19 – Billy Searle intercepts and races 50 metres before feeding Nizaam Carr to score Wasps' third try in the corner. Big blow for the home side. Searle converts.

– Long delay as former Bristol fly-half, Billy Searle receives treatment for a nasty looking injury. The Wasps number ten is stretchered off.

45 minsTRY10-19 – Randall finishes off a superb Bristol attack to get the home side back in the game, as Dan Thomas, Siale Piutau, Leiua and Thacker combine to send the scrum-half over. Madigan converts.

52 minsTRY10-26 – But Wasps hit back with an opportunist score. Bristol spill the ball in midfield and Will Rowlands scoops up to sprint in from 50 metres. Sopoaga converts.

56 minsTRY17-26 – Game on. Superb offloading from Luatua and Vui sends O’Conor over for a great score. Sheedy converts and it's a nine-point game.

59 minsTRY22-26 – Bristol well and truly on top now as they score a third in 15 minutes. Dazzling from replacement fly-half Sheedy, who breaks clear before offloading to Charles Piutau, who shrugs off Le Roux to touch down.

62 minsDISALLOWED – Wasps think they’ve scored in the corner, but Wayne Barnes calls play back for a forward pass and Tommy Taylor is denied.

64 minsPEN22-29 – Sopoaga kicks penalty to extend Wasps lead to seven points.

79 mins – One final roll of the dice for Bristol, who kick a penalty to the corner. But the lineout is held up by Wasps and Wayne Barnes blows for full-time. Just a losing bonus-point for Bristol’s efforts.
