As it happened: Bristol Bears 28-24 Gloucester Rugby

Bristol Bears twice came from behind to earn a first Gallagher Premiership victory over Gloucester for 11 years. 

Dan Thomas and Andy Uren touched down at the front end of either half, while two penalties from Callum Sheedy, one from Ian Madigan and a 67th-minute penalty try completed a memorable win for Pat Lam's men.

3 minTRY – 5-0 – That’s a superb start from the hosts. Luatua hits a great line after Piutau kick-starts the counter attack, and the back-row does well to involve Daniels, who sends Thomas in to score. Conversion is wide.

15 minsTRY5-7 – Gloucester hit back and slick hands from Cipriani release Woodward to sweep in for the score. Twelvetrees converts.

25 minsPEN8-7 – Bristol awarded a penalty at scrum time and Sheedy obliges from just outside the 22.

32 mins – Uren intercepts Braley’s pass from the base and races 50 metres before referee awards a penalty against Gloucester. Great stuff from the scrum-half.

35 minsPEN11-7 – Patient play from Bristol in Gloucester 22 and they are rewarded with a penalty, which Sheedy fires through the posts.

45 minsPEN11-10 – Bristol withstand the Gloucester maul but give a penalty away in midfield. Twelvetrees obliges from in front of the sticks and it’s a one-point game.  

47 minsTRY18-10 - Another sensational counter attack try from Bristol. Morahan shreds the Gloucester defence and the supporting Piutau locates Uren for a dash to the corner. Madigan converts.

50 mins – Marshall held up over the line by Siale Piutau as he stretches over to score. Big let off for Bristol straight after scoring.

56 minsTRY18-17 - Marshall gets over this time with an acrobatic finish after sensational work from Woodward, who fights off a tackle and delivers a superb offload. Twelvetrees converts.

58 minsTRY18-24 – The game has been turned on its head. Cipriani kicks ahead and the ball bounces awkwardly to evade Piutau and Daniels, but Thorley is on hand to scoop up and touch down. Twelvetrees converts.

63 minsYELLOW - Bristol move the ball left where Piutau looks to be sending Daniels in for the score. But Woodward knocks on deliberately and is sin-binned.

68 minsTRY & YELLOW25-24 – A huge moment in this contest. The Bristol driving lineout surges towards the line before being dragged to the ground, and referee Karl Dickson awards penalty try and a yellow card to Ed Slater. Gloucester down to 13 men and Bristol have a one-point lead.

71 minsPEN MISSED – Another let-off for Bristol, as Twelvetrees misses straightforward penalty that would have edged Gloucester back in front.

78 minsPEN28-24 – Superb from Madigan, who steps up to slot a long-range penalty and put Bristol into four-point lead in the closing stages.

80 mins – Gloucester kick a penalty to the corner and drive the lineout, searching for a last-gasp win. But the Bristol pack is up to the test and as the maul is splintered, the referee blows the final whistle.
