As it happened: Bristol Bears 59-21 Zebre Rugby

Bristol Bears ran in eight tries to kick off their European Challenge Cup campaign with an emphatic bonus-point victory over Zebre at Ashton Gate.

Ioan Lloyd finished with a 22-point haul on his competitive debut for the club, while Will Capon, Toby Fricker, Piers O'Conor, Dan Thomas, Yann Thomas, Charlie Powell and Andy Uren also touched down for Pat Lam's side.

7 minsTRY0-7 – First blood to Zebre, who strike through Bellini, scooping up a loose ball to waltz through the Bristol defence.. Canna converts.

9 mins – Bristol attack inside the Zebre 22, but the Italians intercept and only a superb covering tackle from Siale Piutau saves the hosts.

15 minsTRY7-7 – Bristol hit back and after patient play inside the Zebre 22, Will Capon crashes over from close range to get the hosts on the board.

18 minsTRY14-7 – Beautifully worked try by the Bears - Charles Piutau breaks and offloads to Chris Vui, who picks up from his ankles and delivers delicate pass to send Fricker over.

23 minsTRY21-7 – Fantastic individual score from Piers O’Conor, who steps inside off his right foot before outpacing the covering defence. Lloyd converts.

26 minsTRY28-7 – Bonus point sealed inside half an hour, as fly half Ioan Lloyd gathers the ball facing his own line, before breaking clear with scintillating turn of pace to score a superb 70-metre solo try. Lloyd adds conversion.

32 minsPEN31-7 – Penalty to Bristol on the ten-metre line and Lloyd steps up to land his fourth successful kick of the afternoon. 

40 minsTRY38-7 – Fifth try for Bristol, as Dan Thomas steps and fends his way to the line from five metres. Lloyd converts.

46 minsTRY45-7 – The Bears' driving maul gets the rumble on and Yann Thomas grabs the try. Lloyd converts.

73 minsTRY45-21 – Zebre capitalise on numerical advantage with penalty try at the scrum.

77 minsTRY52-21 – Well worked from Bristol, as Charlie Powell spots the gap and coasts over in the corner. Lloyd converts.

80 minsTRY59-21 - Bears finish with a flourish, as replacement Andy Uren snipes his way to the line from close range. Sheedy converts.
