As it happened: Saracens 44-23 Bristol Bears

Bristol Bears were beaten 44-23 by reigning champions, Saracens on Saturday, having led 18-13 at half-time. George Smith's red card sparked a second-half surge from Mark McCall's side, with Liam Williams' hat-trick sealing a bonus-point win.

11 minsTRY7-7 - Will Hurrell makes the outside break and after a strong carry from Ed Holmes in midfield, Sheedy’s cross-field kick is on the money for Alapati Leiua to collect and touch down. Sheedy converts.

19 minsPEN7-10 – Callum Sheedy lands penalty from the ten-metre line after Saracens are penalised for offside in midfield.

21 minsCHANCE – Steven Luatua scoops the ball up off his laces and offloads to Uren, but the scrum half's kick through is well covered by Owen Farrell. 

22 minsCHANCE – Superb scramble defence from Bristol, as O’Conor hauls down Lewington and Leiua smashes Lozowski metres from the line. Uren clears long down field.

28 minsPEN - 7-13 – Saracens are penalised at the breakdown and Sheedy knocks over long-range penalty to extend lead.

37 mins – George Smith wins a huge penalty for Bristol Bears after five-metre drive from Saracens is repelled. Visitors' defence withstanding the champions.

39 minsPEN13-13 – Owen Farrell kicks a simple penalty after George Smith is penalised at the breakdown.

40 minsTRY – 13-18 – Leiua squeezes in the corner for his and Bristol's second try after quick hands from Piutau and O’Conor and a strong carry from Hurrell in midfield. Sheedy misses conversion.

51 minsTRY25-18 – Replacement Billy Vunipola charges over from the base of a scrum, with Bristol Bears down to 14 men. Farrell converts.

54 minsTRY30-18 - Liam Williams coasts into the right-hand corner to score Saracens’ fourth try just two minutes after coming on as a replacement. Farrell misses the conversion.

61 minsCHANCE - Siale Piutau dives towards the line after strong carry from Nick Haining, but after TMO consultation, it’s adjudged held up.

70 minsTRY37-18 - After Bristol deny Saracens at the maul, Liam Williams follows up Billy Vunipola’s bust from close range to touch down. Farrell converts.
