Barbarians FC topple Wales Women at the Principality Stadium

Bristol Bears Women had five players in action at the Principality Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Wales Women fell to 1 29-15 defeat against the Barbarians.

Elinor Snowsill, Siwan Lillicrap, Keira Bevan and Lauren Smyth were all in action for Wales, whilst Clara Nelson started at hooker for the Barbarians.

The tourists opened the scoring through New Zealand's Charmaine McMenamin. The number eight finished off a move started by a cheeky through-the-legs pass by fellow Black Fern and 2017 World Cup winner Eloise Blackwell.

Baa-Baas were over the whitewash from the restart as Dyddgu Hywel - who came out of international-level retirement - raced down the wing and scored against her former Wales team-mates.

Scotland's Lauren Harris, also persuaded to brush off her boots, latched onto a floated pass to cross for the third, before Ireland duo Jenny Murphy and Anna Caplice added their names to the scoresheet to round off a one-sided half.

Wales had to respond after the break and they were boosted by breast from Paige Randall and the sniping Keira Bevan.

But it was Lisa Neumann who found the whitewash to keep up an impressive international scoring record on the wing, holding off defenders to touch down under pressure in the corner.

Bevan, who had been lively all match, got her reward 10 minutes from time, taking advantage of the blind-side to score, while Callender stole a late interception to score in front of a cheering crowd.
