Beard delighted to be building new training ground

At Beard, we are very proud of our strong presence in Bristol. Our office at the top of Pembroke Road is within a stone’s throw of Clifton Downs and Brunel’s iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, for which we recently had the honour of constructing new toll-houses.

As a family-run firm we are keen to play our full part in the local community and as such Bristol Sport and Bristol Bears are close to our hearts. The team is currently riding high both at home in the Premiership and in Europe and we look forward to seeing continued success as the season unfolds.

Top-flight rugby requires top-class facilities and this is true every bit as much for where the team trains as for where it plays its matches. We at Beard are delighted to be involved in delivering the club’s new training facilities, and we very much look forward to working with the club to ensure we meet the needs of the team, the coaching staff and everyone else who works hard behind the scenes to make Bristol Bears tick.

Work has already started on the Abbots Leigh facility and when completed, towards the end of the current Premiership season, it will feature two full-size hybrid pitches, a mixture of real and artificial grass, with full drainage and irrigation. In addition, there will be a half-size pitch with flexible roof covering should the West Country weather take its toll.

Alongside the pitches themselves, there will also be a two-storey pavilion, the ground floor will host a state-of-the-art gym and weight-training area, a medical centre and treatment room, a hydrotherapy room, and changing facilities. The first floor will feature a team meeting and analysis room, a player breakout room, plus a canteen and kitchen, as well as offices and boardroom space. The facility is designed to accommodate a total of 94 players across the various Bears teams, along with the associated club staff.

The team is already doing a great job on the pitch, and it’s time to give them the back-up they need on the training ground so they can consistently compete with the very best in Europe. If our work contributes to achieving that, we will count it a job well done.
