Bears confirm squad for Premiership Rugby Sevens

Bristol Bears have confirmed their squad for the Premiership Sevens this weekend.

Bristol face Harlequins and hosts Northampton Saints in the pool stage of the competition, which takes place at Franklin’s Gardens on Friday, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th. 

Sean Marsden selects a side brimming with young talent, as Academy stars Ioan Lloyd, Will Capon, Nathan Chamberlain, Aaron Chapman, Jack Bates and Harry Ascherl are included in the squad.

Bears also welcome a trio of Hartpury guest players as Toby Venner, Robbie Smith, Harry Short earn call-ups, while Bristol Academy U18 winger Chay Mullins is also named in the eleven-man squad.

Bristol have been drawn Pool C and will take on Saints at 6.38pm and Quins at 8.08pm on day one of the tournament.

After the pools are completed on Friday evening, Saturday’s matches will start at 2.30pm and see the top eight ranked teams contest the Cup quarter-finals.

Academy transition coach Marsden said: “The Premiership Rugby Sevens is always a great occasion because it provides a platform for some young, exciting talent to express themselves and show what they can do.

“There’s a fantastic atmosphere at Franklin’s Gardens and it’ll be a positive experience for our Academy players – we’re excited to see what they can achieve over the two-day event.”
