Bears players and staff to embark on period of 'active rest'

Bristol Bears players and staff will embark on a period of individual ‘active rest’ from the club’s training base at Cribbs Causeway from Tuesday, March 17th.

The decision was taken to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19, with the health and well-being of Bears players and their families our primary concern at this time.

Players have been issued with tailored individual fitness programmes, including GPS monitors and training equipment. We will be continuing to train and prepare for the return of the Gallagher Premiership on w/c April 20th.

The club understands the challenges of the current situation and how it can affect the mental health of our players and staff.

We have introduced a number of measures to support and manage well-being during this period of isolation, including regular team video conference meetings, quizzes, skills challenges and team WhatsApp groups to ensure consistent communication.

At times of stress, we work better in company and with support. We urge our community to keep in touch with loved ones for emotional support.

If you are worried about Coronavirus, please seek the latest official guidance from the NHS website.
