Bears Women international round-up

Bristol Bears Women had seven players in action over the weekend as England took on Italy in Bedford and Wales faced Crawshays RFC in an historic match at Ebbw Vale.

England Women 60-3 Italy Women

England led 22-3 at the break with tries from Vicky Fleetwood, Poppy Cleall, Heather Kerr and Abby Dow, while Italy's points came via a Michela Sillari penalty.

Second-half tries from Kerr, Emily Scarratt, Sarah Bern (2), Rownita Marston and a penalty try added further gloss to the win.

Bern scored her first of the afternoon when the Red Roses got their driving line-out rolling and the Bears front-rower was the beneficiary as she dotted down over the chalk.

The Red Roses pack flexed their muscles once again as they powered their way over the line from a five metre scrum with Marston controlling the ball at the base and touching down for a moment to remember.

Italy lost Sara Tounesi to the bin in the final moments and Bern had a second try after collecting the ball off the top of a line-out and flying down the blindside to cross for England’s tenth score.

Wales Women 29-8 Crawshays RFC

Five Bears players were in action at Ebbw Vale RFC as Siwan Lillicrap captained Wales, alongside Keira Bevan and Lauren Smyth. Whilst, Poppy Leitch and Rhi Parker lined up opposite them for Crawshays RFC.

Wales came out on top thanks to tries from Kayleigh Green, Paige Randall, Caitlin Lewis, Courtney Knight and Molly Kelly.

Ellie Green scored a drop goal to notch up the first ever point scored by the women’s Crawshays side, before Dyddgu Hywel scored their only try of the game.

Wales round off their autumn series when they face Barbarians RFC for the first time at the Principality Stadium (Saturday, November 30th, 11:45am).
