Bern nominated for Red Roses Player of the Year award

Bristol Bears Women and England Women prop Sarah Bern has been named on a three-player shortlist for the Red Roses Player of the Year.

The O2 England Women’s player of the year award is presented to the outstanding player from the 2018/19 season, as voted by the England women’s elite playing squad and the three nominees are; Sarah Bern, Katy Daley-McLean and Sarah McKenna.

The trio helped the Red Roses to a Grand Slam in the Six Nations earlier this year and the winner will be announced at the 2019 RPA awards on Wednesday, May 8th.

As one of the most eagerly-anticipated events in the rugby calendar, the RPA Awards recognise and celebrate the very best of the best in rugby.

Sarah Bern said: “I have always felt the most important recognition you can ever have is from your teammates and to have them support me in this way is both incredible and unbelievable.

Bern has enjoyed a fantastic year with the Red Roses and after returning to full fitness in January, she was instrumental in her side’s Grand Slam Six Nations campaign, scoring five tries in five games.
