Bern voted Red Roses Player of the Year

Bristol Bears Women and England Women prop Sarah Bern has been named the O2 England Women’s Player of the Year at the annual RPA Awards.

As voted for by her fellow England teammates, Sarah Bern received the coveted award ahead of fellow nominees, Katy Daley-Mclean and Sarah McKenna as the standout performer over the season.

The destructive front rower returned from injury in January and shone throughout the Women’s Six Nations, scoring 5 tries during the tournament, which saw England Women claim the Grand Slam.

Bern was delighted to be recognised by her fellow professionals when she received the award at the RPA’s annual event at Twickenham.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be recognised in this way by my England teammates," said Bern.

"Having been injured and having worked so hard to get back to this point, I am overwhelmed and thankful to everyone who has been there and supported me throughout my career.

“It’s an honour to be a member of this England team, and especially at the age of 21, I am shocked to have such incredible recognition.”

Everyone at Bristol Bears Women would like to congratulate Sarah on this fantastic achievement.
