‘Big test ahead’ - Oliver

Kim Oliver believes her side have a ‘point to prove’ as they travel away to face Wasps Ladies at Twyford Avenue on Saturday afternoon.

Wasps claimed the spoils at Shaftesbury Park in the previous meeting between the two sides but Oliver believes her side can take confidence from last weekend’s 48-0 victory into Saturday’s clash.

“It was nice to get over the line a few times last week and give the girls some confidence. I think our backs began to click and they unlocked spaces in the midfield which gave us good go-forward ball.

“It’s good to have someone as experienced as Amber Reed back in the midfield, she calms people down and understands the game very well, so having her there helps out the other players.

“Phoebe Murray was also a stand out performer scoring a hat-trick, running hard lines and distributing the ball really well under pressure, which should be a good confidence boost for her.

“All in all it seems to be coming together but we know it will be a different game this weekend against Wasps, who have great line speed so that’ll paint a different picture for the backline and we’re looking forward to that challenge.

“Our forwards give us good momentum and go forward ball, but it’s not just that as last week the link up play with the backline was superb and hopefully we can replicate that this weekend.

“It’s always a tough away trip to go and face Wasps. They came to us earlier on in the season and they managed to beat us and we weren’t at our best, so we’ve got a point to prove on Saturday.”
