Chris Booy hailed the support at Ashton Gate on Sunday as top flight rugby returned to the city.
Bristol Rugby attracted a crowd of 11,322 in the clash with Northampton Saints, the second highest attendance in Round Two of the Aviva Premiership.
“On behalf of the Club, I’d like to thank the supporters that came and gave the team such passionate backing,” Booy said.
“Although it wasn’t the result we wanted, the attitude and desire shown in the second half is something that we can build on.
“Home support is crucial to us and will be throughout the campaign, so it was particularly pleasing to see over 11,000 at Ashton Gate, more than our average attendance when we were third in the Premiership nine years ago.
“We’re anticipating a larger crowd again when we welcome Exeter Chiefs on Friday, September 23rd for the first of the South-West derbies.
“Over 10,000 tickets have already been sold and I’d encourage as many supporters as possible to come along and support the team under the lights at Ashton Gate.”
