Chairman Chris Booy hailed the impact of the home faithful as Bristol Rugby achieved victory over Bath in the local derby on Sunday.
The attendance of 16,258 was the biggest crowd of the Aviva Premiership weekend and the second time Bristol have broken the 16,000 barrier during the campaign.
“The supporters were fantastic on Sunday. It was a proper derby atmosphere, with real passion on show, on and off the field. Yesterday underlined just how important a role the supporters play,” Booy said.
“This season, our average attendance of 13,750 is higher than the Premiership average of 13,602 which is really encouraging. Also, we’re attracting an increasing number of the next generation of Bristol supporters.
“Nearly 20% of the crowd were younger than 19, and there were 2,700 group booking tickets and experiences, as well as 31 combination clubs in attendance. With three massive home games remaining, it’s vital that our supporters wear the hoops with pride and back the team as we bid for survival.”
