Boyland heads to Hong Kong on short-term loan

Blake Boyland is set to join Kowloon Rugby in Hong Kong on a short-term loan agreement.

The homegrown Academy product makes the switch with immediate effect and will return to Bristol in February 2021.

Director of Rugby, Pat Lam said: “With the news that adult competitive leagues from level 3 and below would be cancelled for the 2020/21 season, it’s important we find quality game-time for our young players so they can continue to develop.

“Blake will benefit from a fantastic opportunity to work with some of Hong Kong’s national coaches. Equally importantly, it’s an incredible life experience for him as he grows as a young man – a vital part of our club vision.

“We wish Kowloon all the best for their league campaign in the Hong Kong Premiership and we will be monitoring his progress closely.”

Kowloon Head Coach, Scott Sneddon added: “We are delighted to bring Blake across to Kowloon Rugby. He is a young and exciting player that will add great value to our squad with the experience he has from Bristol and England 20s.

“We are grateful for the work Pat, Gethin and the whole of Bristol Bears team have done to make the loan move possible. It’s brilliant that between both clubs we can offer playing opportunities and a life experiences to any young player. It will be a positive challenge for Blake and we are looking forward to welcoming him into the environment.”
