Alex Walder received the annual Carol Humphreys Memorial Bursary Fund of £1,000 to aid his development.
The Gordano RFC and Backwell School player beat off competition from twelve competitors to win the funding.
Walder and Academy Manager Mike Hall were presented the cheque by BRIS Trust Chairman Andrew Humprheys at half-time of the New Year's Day clash versus Plymouth Albion.
The Carol Humphreys Memorial Bursary is rewarded to individuals in the Academy system who show great promise, with the intention that the funds will aid the player's development.
"I'm so proud to have awarded the bursary - its financial support will be really beneficial to help with my training," Walder told bristolrugby.co.uk.
As well as the bursary funding, the BRIS Trust presented a cheque of £3,000 to Mike Hall for the ongoing support of Academy players.
