Bristol Ladies Crowned Senior Plate Winners

Bristol Ladies beat local rivals Worcester 32-20 to win first silverware of the season.

Bristol had a strong first-half performance at the Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Club with a try from Becki Belcher within the first six minutes of kick-off but Worcester quickly followed to even up the score (5-5).

A second for Belcher came just before the 20-minute mark followed by a try from Phoebe Murray just moments later.

Bristol found a way to widen the gap between them and their local rivals before half-time as Brooke Bradley got over the line to make the score 20-5.

The second-half started exactly how Bristol wanted it to with a try from Chantelle Miell (sponsored by Dambusters Rugby) but Worcester didn’t give up and got over the whitewash themselves just moments later.

Miell (sponsored by Dambusters Rugby) went over for her second but it was Worcester who had a strong finish scoring two tries before full-time. Bristol’s earlier lead gave them the buffer they needed to keep hold of the win with a final score of 32-20.

Bristol Ladies are back in action at Cleve RFC on Sunday, April 9th for the final time this season as they take on Saracens in the Women's Premiership play-off semi-final.

A 48-7 win over Wasps on Sunday confirmed the home play-off against Saracens Women on Sunday, April 9th (KO 2:45pm) at Cleve Rugby Club.

Eight tries from Bristol earned them a bonus point win, finishing the regular season on 60 points and top of the table.

Lichfield, who have always been hot on their heels all season, finished second on 59 points after a victory over Richmond last weekend.

Come and support Bristol Ladies in their final home game of the season and opportunity to progress through to the Women's Premiership Final.
