Bristol Ladies' Partnership With Bristol Rugby Continues To Flourish

The relationship between Bristol Rugby and Bristol Ladies remains one of the most progressive partnerships in the RFU Women’s Premiership.

Bristol Rugby have supported Bristol Ladies – on and off the field – since 2007 in their bid to establish themselves in the Premiership’s top four.

Bristol Ladies have a number of international players and World Cup winners in their ranks with three players – Danielle Waterman, Abbie Brown and Amy Wilson-Hardy – selected for Great Britain ahead of the Rio Olympics.

“Our longstanding relationship with Bristol Rugby has been hugely beneficial to Bristol Ladies and helped us grow year on year,” Ladies Chief-Executive Heidi Chapman-Mercer told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“Bristol Rugby supports us financially in paying our seasonal rent at Cleve RFC, buying matchday kit and hosting game day events to raise funds for the Club. In previous seasons, Bristol Rugby have provided professional coaches for the first team squad.

“On the field, Bristol Rugby coaches have taken sessions for Ladies, while also offering workshops and advice to our coaching team.”

Last season, Bristol Ladies hosted a Premiership fixture at Ashton Gate, an event that helped to boost the exposure of the women’s game in the city.

In the past two seasons, the Ladies have finished fifth and fourth in the eight-team league, while the second team play in the Championship South West Two.

Chapman-Mercer added: “Playing at Ashton Gate in front of a large support was a fantastic incentive for our players and showed Bristol Rugby fans what talent there is within Bristol Ladies.

“With the increased support we receive from Bristol Rugby’s communications team – whether that be through digital channels, photography or the matchday website – we will continue to grow our brand in the region and beyond.”
