Bristol Rugby Confirm New Forwards Coach

Bristol Rugby have confirmed Steve Borthwick’s role as Forwards Coach.

The former England captain replaces Danny Wilson following a hugely successful Rugby World Cup campaign with Japan.

Borthwick was part of the coaching team that led the Cherry Blossoms to three victories in Pool B, including a famous defeat of South Africa.

“I’m delighted to welcome someone of Steve’s calibre to the coaching set-up at Bristol,” Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“Steve can bring his experience of winning trophies to our squad and he will be an asset to the development of our young players.”

Borthwick, who retired as the Premiership’s most capped player, skippered Bath and Saracens in a sixteen-year playing career.

He said: “I’m looking forward to joining Bristol Rugby and joining Andy [Robinson]’s coaching team.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for me to work with such a talented group of players.

“Bristol prides itself on the strength and dynamism of the forward pack and I’m eager to continue that philosophy.”

Borthwick will link up for first team training on Monday, November 2nd.
