Bristol Sport Gets Behind 'I Am Team GB' National Sports Day

Bristol Academy of Sport celebrates the Olympics with ‘I Am Team GB’ family sports day on Saturday, August 27th supported by Bristol Sport clubs.

With the support of local teams, Bristol Academy of Sport will host a number of different sporting activities and fun events on Saturday, August 27th.

The aim is to get more people active in the local community and celebrate Team GB's achievements at the Rio 2016 Games.

The event is part of 'I Am Team GB' - a nationwide campaign that has inspired thousands of UK clubs to open their doors to new participants. This campaign is brought to you by ITV and The National Lottery, working with the British Olympic Association, UK Sport and supported by Join In, to inspire the Great British public to take part in sport.

What's more, many of the nation's Olympians, fresh from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will be attending events across the nation to give people the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with Team GB.

The Bristol Academy of Sport is proud to fly the I Am Team GB flag in the Bristol area. There will be opportunities to try athletics, basketball, boxing, football, American Football and much more.

As well as a number of stalls, stands, food and beverages, Bristol City Women’s Football Club, Bristol Flyers Basketball, Bristol Rugby and Bristol City have all pledged support for the event. There is also potential for a number of Olympic and Paralympic heroes to be there too.

“People don’t realise just how much sport goes on in Bristol, let a lot at this academy,” said event organiser Chloe Ball-Hopkins.

“This event is a great opportunity to give everyone a chance to taste what is on offer here in conjunction with this nationwide event,” she added.

The free event will be at SGS Wise Campus on Saturday, August 27th from 1-5pm.

Everyone who attends can claim half-price tickets to the Bristol City Women v Everton game (KO 6pm) straight after the event. Simply grab one of the flyers at the event and take it to the ticket office. Under 12s can watch the game for just £1!
