Butchers is recharged and raring to go

Alisha Butchers insists Bears Women are re-energised following the break and ready to attack the second half of the season.

Bristol Bears Women kick off 2021 with a South West derby at Shaftesbury Park and the loose forward says her teammates are fired up for the live streamed clash.

SECOND FAMILY

“We’re all excited. I know in training on Tuesday we were all buzzing to get back to it, so hopefully that will show in our performance this weekend – the two weeks off was needed but we’re all excited to be back in.

“Family time is always a great time and it was needed, especially over Christmas but we’re all excited to back with our second family. We can’t wait to kickstart our year this weekend.”

ENERGY LEVELS

“Our performance against DMP before the break was great and we did take some work-ons from that as well. Going into this weekend we need to take the same energy as we had in that game and hopefully, we can come away with a win.

“They’re [Exeter] a great team, the first time we played them it was a great game, it was back and forth the whole time. We’re expecting that again this weekend and we’ve been focussing on putting in a performance this weekend, because we know they’re going to bring a big, physical game to us.

“They’re built through the first half of the season, so they’re going to be better than the first time we played them, but then so are we as well. We’ve been working hard together, playing together more and getting to know each other better. They’re a great team and we’re looking forward to the battle at the weekend.”

WORLD CLASS COMPETITION

“It’s been really good, probably one of the best decisions I have made to commit to the Premier 15s league. The standard is awesome and probably one of the best leagues in the world, I can’t really complain.

“I’m playing with and against world class players, so it’s only going to make me a better player.

“The team here are absolutely great, I can’t fault the girls. The way we stick together all the time, the whole team management and the girls are like one big family here.”

Coverage from Shaftesbury Park begins at 11:45am on Saturday.
