Carpenter Drops In For Nailsea School Awards Evening

Pupils attending Nailsea School’s Sports Personality of the Year Awards on Monday, 18th July were treated to a visit from Bristol Rugby centre Nick Carpenter.

The 21-year-old took part in a chat show-style question and answer session with Nailsea School deputy head of PE, Dan Van Grudgings, before handing out awards to the schools top performing sportsmen and women.

Mr Van Grudgings said: "This event celebrates the contributions of all of our very talented sports students, many of which aspiring to become professional athletes.

"Having delivered a speech around dedication, hard work and self-belief, Nick inspired our students describing his journey to elite sport.

"With Nick being a local sports star, this enabled students to really connect with the Bristol centre and enabled them to believe that they could follow in his footsteps. It was a privilege to have Nick as our speaker."

Carpenter said: “What a great evening at Nailsea School’s Sports Personality of the Year evening.

"It was fantastic to see so many young sportsmen and women celebrating their achievements and I’m sure they will all go on to do some great things on the sports field.

“Thank you very much to Nailsea School for inviting me along, it was an honour.”
