Bristol Bears Community Foundation has been boosted by a donation of £1,400 from The University and Literary Club (UniLit).
Joe Joyce was an attendee at the club’s sporting lunch fundraiser – and Community Development Manager Craig Capel says the charity is grateful for the UniLit Club’s ongoing support.
“We are very proud of the work of Bristol Bears Community Foundation and all staff can talk passionately about the community programmes they deliver.
“To see players like Joe Joyce, who is one of the Community Leads as part of the Bears Leadership group, talk about how much they value the chance to get out and support our work is so important and great to hear.
“I would like to thank Joe and of course the generous members of the UniLit Club for their support of some of the most disadvantaged members of our community through this kind donation to Bristol Bears Community Foundation.”
Steve Dachtler from the UniLit club added: “Joe Joyce was the guest at a sporting lunch at the UniLit Club in Bristol where he gave an insight into what being a Bristol Bear is like.
"Aside from the playing and training, he explained the hard work the club does in the community to which we were pleased to raise £1400 for the cause. Joe is one of our own, a Bristolian, and the Community Foundation is an important part of what the Bears are about."
