Community Foundation's Nando’s Cup Returns For Fourth Year

Bristol Rugby Community Foundation is pleased to announce the return of the Nando's Cup, in partnership with SGS College.

The festival, now in its fourth year, is a ten-a-side one-day festival for Under-13 and Under-14 teams and will take place on Sunday, 19th March at SGS College.

The finals of the Under-14 festival will then be played during the half-time interval of Bristol Rugby’s Aviva Premiership match against Gloucester at Ashton Gate on Friday, 24th March.

The day also sees a link-up between the Community Foundation and SGS College students and staff, who help to run the festival as part of their academic studies.

Sam Williams, lecturer at SGS College said: "The Nando's Cup is a key event for the second year Extended Diploma students from the Academic Sport department at SGS College.

“We are delighted to work alongside Bristol Rugby Community Foundation to provide a great opportunity for young rugby players in Bristol and the surrounding area, as well providing our learners with invaluable vocational experience that enhances their studies.

“We are immensely proud that previous learners have gone on to work for the Foundation as a direct result of this project and look forward to the partnership continuing to grow."

Rik Green, Nando’s Bristol General Manager, said: “Nando’s is proud to continue sponsoring this event, which supports festival rugby and the development of young players and teams from across the city."

Entry costs £75, with each team receiving match day tickets (15 junior, two adults) for the Bristol versus Gloucester Premiership fixture.

Chief community officer, Ben Breeze said: “Bristol Rugby Community Foundation is delighted to continue its partnership with Nando’s and is looking forward to an exciting festival of rugby at SGS College.

“The opportunity for some of the lads to go on and play at Ashton Gate during the half-time break is fantastic for them and will make for an enjoyable and highly competitive festival.”

If you would like more information or would like to enter Nando's Cup, please email ccapel@bristolrugby.co.uk as soon as you can, as places are limited to 12 per age group.

Note: Following the RFU competition calendar, club coaches need to ensure that any school competition fixtures take priority.
