Courtney Keight is a Bear

Bristol Bears Women is delighted to announce Wales international Courtney Keight has joined the club ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The 22-year-old utility back is Kim Oliver’s fifth addition this summer as the Bears continue to add international talent to their playing pool ahead of the new campaign.

Head Coach Kim Oliver said: “Courtney is a young, enthusiastic player with a tremendous work ethic whose talent is beginning to be recognised with international honours.

“She’ll put her body on the line for her teammates and has fantastic potential to flourish in our environment at Bristol Bears.

“Not only is she the type of player we’re looking to add to our group, but she is also the type of person we want at the club and I can’t wait for her to link up with the group at the start of pre-season.”

Keight has been capped by Wales on two occasions and made her international bow in a victory over Ireland in the autumn

“One of the main reasons behind my move to Bristol Bears was because of the amazing environment and team culture that has been created at the club,” said Keight

“I’ve been told about how welcoming everyone involved with the club is and I’ve already experienced it through messages and calls from the staff as well as zoom calls with the players.

“There is a very professional standard set at Bristol and the club plays in a competitive competition in the form of the Premier 15s and that was part of the draw to the club. I know that playing at this level and having such talented teammates will help me develop as a player and as a person.

“I’m so excited to get started with the Bears and see what this season brings. I’ve already been welcomed into the Bears family and I can’t wait to meet everyone properly and get back on the pitch.”
