Dallaglio Congratulates Springfields Academy On Award Triumph

Former England captain and World Cup winner, Lawrence Dallaglio has praised Springfields Academy after the Calne-based school scooped the Best Team Moment of the Year Award at the RugbyWorks Awards on Monday, 11th July.

Bristol Rugby Community Foundation delivers education, employment and training through the RugbyWorks programme on behalf of the Dallaglio Foundation at the Wiltshire School – which was recognised for its role in diffusing a heated situation at a regional tournament.

Dallaglio said: “When you’ve had a tough start in life, uniting through sport, particularly rugby, can be immensely powerful.

“It takes real commitment to be part of RugbyWorks and we’re delighted to bring our young people here to Macquarie to celebrate their successes over the past year.

“Uniting the schools, teachers, young people and our partners together is incredibly important as each plays a vital role in ensuring our young people have a positive future ahead”.

The Rt. Hon. Stephen Crabb presented the Award for Corporate Partner of the year – and he also offered his congratulations to all award winners.

He said: “Sport and rugby can have a powerful impact on young people who’ve faced challenges early on in life. I fully support the good work that the Dallaglio Foundation does to help teenagers overcome barriers and improve their life chances. I whole-heartedly congratulate the winners.”

The Dallaglio Foundation RugbyWorks currently works in 12 London Boroughs, Newcastle, Bristol, the South West and South Wales with 250 young people.
