Dave Ward praises Burns ahead of her Red Roses debut

Head coach, Dave Ward has congratulated Delaney Burns after the Bears' lock was named in England's XV to play Italy this Sunday, April 2nd (3pm KO)
"We are incredibly proud at Bears for Delaney and the opportunity for her to play for the Red Roses. It's a huge testament to the work she's put in and we can't wait to see her in a white shirt," said Ward.
Burns is set to earn her first cap at lock with Cath O’Donnell lining up alongside her.
England take on Italy in Round 2 of the TikTok Six Nations at Franklin's Gardens in Northampton, the match will be live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
Burns has played every game so far for the Bears this season, taking over from mentor and Red Rose, Abbie Ward.
One of Bears' rising stars, Burns was part of the club's Centre of Excellence programme before making the move to the senior squad at the beginning of the 2019/20 season. The second rower made her Bears debut against Wasps at home in October 2020 and has gone on to make 41 appearances for the side.
During the 2021/22 season Burns made her debut for England U20s and made five appearances.
