Dickinson to depart at the end of the season

Alasdair Dickinson will depart Bristol Bears at the end of the 2021/22 campaign for personal reasons.

The Scrum Coach – who joined in the summer of 2020 – returns to his native Scotland with the club’s best wishes and gratitude for his service.

“A massive part of our culture is family and that always takes precedence over everything,” said Director of Rugby Pat Lam.

“Dicko has added real value to our environment and to our game – the scrum has continued to improve and develop with his support and we have no doubt that he will continue to grow as a fine young coach.

“We thank Dicko for the commitment he and his family have shown, particularly during these difficult and unprecedented circumstances in a pandemic. While we understand why he must return home to Scotland we are pleased he will be part of our big push to achieve our Team goals for the rest of this season.”

Dickinson said: “I’m grateful to Pat for his understanding in this situation. Bristol Bears is truly an exceptional club. In the time that I have been here, I’ve been blown away by the professionalism, culture and alignment between players, staff and management.

“It’s been a fantastic learning curve for me personally working with a world class group of players and coaches and I have no doubt Bears will go on to achieve success. I can reflect with pride on how the set piece has developed over the past twelve months and I’m pleased to have been able to contribute to European silverware.

“For me, the focus is now doing everything I can to help deliver a Premiership trophy to the Bears.”
