Disability Journalism Programme receives special invitation

After a memorable meeting with Saracens captain, Brad Barritt at last season’s Premiership Final, pupils from the Community Foundation’s Disability Journalism Programme have received a special invitation to Bristol Bears’ game against the champions at Allianz Park on Saturday, from one other than the man himself.

The pupils met the Saracens captain at Twickenham after he had helped his side to the Premiership title, where they interviewed him about his rugby career and performance in the final.

And the group were blown away to receive a special invite from Barritt to this weekend’s Gallagher Premiership clash.

“Since its inception, the Disability Journalism Programme has been making waves throughout the rugby family, by simply allowing these incredible young people to demonstrate their passion for all things sporting and reporting-despite often very complex and difficult circumstances,” said programme manager, Kris Tavender.

“To have the work of these incredible young people, and the dedicated staff of the Community Foundation, recognised by Saracens, the English rugby champions, and Brad Barritt, is absolutely overwhelming.

“Travelling to Allianz Park with the Bristol Bears first team for this Gallagher Premiership fixture just adds further to the incredible journey of this programme from Ashton Gate to Twickenham and now beyond.”

The six pupils attending this weekend’s game are from Warmley Park School, New Fosseway and City of Bristol College.
