Disciplinary verdict: Rownita Marston

The case of Rownita Marston of Bristol Bears was heard last night, Wednesday 18 May, by a virtual independent disciplinary panel chaired by Sir James Dingemans sitting with Meg Gardiner and John Doubleday.

Marston was cited for Dangerous Tackling, Contrary To World Rugby Law 9.13 for an incident in the second half of Bristol Bears’ Allianz Premier 15s match against Exeter Chiefs on 14 May 2022.

The player accepted that she had committed an act of foul play but challenged that it met the threshold for a red card. The Panel upheld the citing and awarded a three-week suspension.

She will miss Bristol’s semi-final against Exeter on Sunday 22 May and the final should Bristol progress. The third week is to be confirmed once the playing schedule is known or alternatively, replaced by successfully completing the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Process.

The full judgment will be available here.
