Eight Sign Contract Extensions With Bristol Rugby

Eight first team players have committed their futures to Bristol Rugby after agreeing new contracts.

Mark Sorenson puts pen to paper on a one-year deal, while Gareth Maule, Ben Mosses and James Hall sign two-year agreements.

Ben Glynn – a graduate of the Club’s Academy system – extends his stay at Bristol for a further two years, and homegrown Jack Tovey agrees a one-year extension.

Charlie Amesbury and Jack Wallace both pen one-year deals as Andy Robinson shapes his squad for next season and beyond.

Of the thirty-eight first team players (not including nine full-time Academy players), thirty-two are now in contract for the 2015/16 season, while discussions are ongoing with several others.

“Planning for the new campaign is well underway and it’s important for us to retain a core of the current squad,” the Director of Rugby told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“The eight players who we have announced today have the ability to be regular Premiership performers.

“I’m pleased with how our squad is shaping up, both for the current campaign and beyond.

“Now, we go into the play-offs with a settled squad of players who have security about their futures and can focus on our primary objective: winning the Championship.

“We’re in discussions with several other members of the squad and details of those will be confirmed once finalised.”

Tom Varndell (Wasps), Marc Jones and Will Cliff (Sale Sharks) and Jamal Ford-Robinson have agreed terms to sign for Bristol for the new campaign.

Nicky Robinson (Oyonnax), Luke Baldwin and Andy Short (Worcester Warriors) have confirmed their departures at the end of the season.
