Enhancing your matchday experience at Ashton Gate

It’s very important to us that Ashton Gate feels like home. Since our move to BS3 in 2014, we’ve experienced a significant increase in average attendances and season card numbers.

Now, with the 27,000 seater state-of-the-art stadium complete, Bristol Bears are committed to providing an unrivalled matchday experience.

We want our proud supporters, irrespective of age or gender, to feel welcome and entertained when they visit Ashton Gate.

That’s why – following consultation with several supporter workshops – we are introducing these changes to the rugby matchday in 2018/19:

  • The sports bar & pizzeria – home to the largest indoor pub screen in the country, as well as 15 LED screens – will be converted into the clubhouse on rugby matchdays. This will include rebranding of the interior.
  • The overflow area in the concourse, connected to the sports bar, will now include a stage and PA system. Coaches and players will take part in regular post-match Q&As.
  • A portable bar will be added to the overflow area of the clubhouse.
  • Memorabilia including trophies, shirts and caps, will be added to the clubhouse.
  • We have set up an email address, ‘rugbyfeedback@bristol-sport.co.uk’, where supporters can provide feedback and raise issues about the matchday experience. This will be monitored regularly and responded to.
  • We will set up and host regular forums and fan meetings to discuss issues. Details of the first meeting is here.
  • The hugely popular fan village will continue to be in operation, with a host of local food and drink suppliers, as well as live music entertainment available before, during and after the game.

“The promotion signals a hugely exciting time for the club, but also a new chapter in which we set the standards for a rugby matchday in the Premiership. We are striving to create a ‘rugby club feel’ around the stadium on home matchdays,” said Ashton Gate managing director Mark Kelly.

We’re excited about the changes we are making around the stadium and we want our highly valued rugby supporters to relish their experience with us.”
