'Excited' Lam relishing Premiership restart

The Bears welcome Saracens to Ashton Gate for a behind-closed-doors clash on Saturday (4.30pm KO, live on BT Sport 1) – and the Director of Rugby insists his side are raring to go.

“I think excitement is the big word for all of us,” said Lam. “Training is always a means to an end and when you’re not sure about when you’re going to go back, all of the uncertainty, fair play to the guys, they put in some work with that uncertainty.

“But the moment there was a date, August 15^th, Saracens was back on, everything just ramped up and everything has been geared to getting back out there and doing the thing we love doing.

Teamwork is key

“All of the teams know that, with such a congested fixture list, starting well is massive. So, everyone, all 12 teams, have that aim – to get out there and try and get off to a fast start.

“From my point of view, it’s about being united as a team, doing the teamwork that will give us the best chance – you can have 15 individuals all keen, but it’s got to be one team that’s keen.”
