Festival caps outstanding term for award-winning Eagle Project

The Community Foundation's Eagle Project celebrated another successful term with a multi-format festival at Bristol Harlequins on Thursday, March 22nd.

More than 45 girls from three Bristol schools - Wellsway, St Bernadettes, Colston's and City Academy - took part in tag, touch and contact games, with programme manager, Geraint Lewis hailing a hugely positive morning of rugby.

"Once again, the girls involved in the programme have done themselves proud at the end of term festival," he said.

"For many of these girls, it's the first time they have represented their school at competitive sport - and they were all fantastic.

"The programme continues to grow year on year and it's amazing to see more and more girls taking up rugby both in and out of curriculum time."

England international, Amber Reed was also in attendance as coach of the Colston's team, and Lewis says the Bristol Ladies star continues to be the perfect role model for girls on the Eagle Project.

"Amber (Reed) is an amazing ambassador for the Eagle Project, so to have her come along this morning just adds to the experience for the girls.

"She is the perfect role model for young girls in rugby and we are hugely grateful for her continued support."
