Break The Cycle is fast approaching its ninth annual fundraiser – and this year’s edition looks set to be the biggest and best EVER.
Last year’s event raised nearly £40,000 for the sporting charities - Bristol Sport Foundation, Bristol City Community Trust, Bristol Bears Community Foundation and Bristol Flyers Community - with more than 250 cyclists taking part in another glorious event.
So what is it that makes Break the Cycle such a spectacularly enjoyable fundraiser to be a part of? Let us explain…
Where better to start your Break the Cycle journey than Bristol’s magnificent 27,000 all-seater stadium – Ashton Gate.
Each of the three routes available to cyclists start and finish at the home of Bristol City and Bristol Bears, with a whole host of pre and post-race refreshments – but we’ll get on to that later.
Choose between a 35 (bronze), 65 (silver) or 100-mile (gold) route, depending on how adventurous you are feeling and how experienced you are in the saddle.
But whichever route you choose, be sure to soak up the glorious countryside and stunning scenery along the way. It’s sure to make your heavy, aching legs feel a whole lot better.
Every penny raised during Break The Cycle goes towards the funding, planning and delivery of each charity’s life-changing work across the region. From programmes focused on special educational needs and disability, to walking sports and dementia awareness – each of the charities works towards improving the lives of people young and old, using sport as the focus.
All of the money you raise can and will make a huge difference.
After a gruelling slog over your chosen distance, what better way to refuel, recover and relax than with a cold Amstel beer and a plate of delicious Peri-Peri Nando’s chicken? Our event sponsors will be on hand to ensure nobody leaves with an empty stomach – it’s the least we can do.
Everybody loves choice and at Break The Cycle 2019, there isn’t much we won’t let you choose. As previously mentioned, cyclists will be able to choose between a 35, 65 or 100-mile route, allowing cyclists of all ages and experience to get involved in the fundraising effort.
A further choice allows entrants to select which charity they would like to raise money for ensuring their fundraising effort goes to a preferred destination.
