Foundation hosts Corporate Tag finals at Ashton Gate

After the success of last year’s Corporate Tag Tournaments, Bristol Bears Community Foundation this year partnered with Bristol-based design and build specialists Paramount to host a series of tag rugby events that culminated in the finals being played at Ashton Gate Stadium.

The finals, held on Wednesday 3rd May, saw 12 teams that had progressed from two events initially hosted at Foundation venue partner Lockleaze Sports Centre (LSC) compete on the pitch at Ashton Gate Stadium for the coveted Corporate Tag Rugby trophy.

Teams of 10, made up of men & women from the business community, first took to the field back in March at LSC with the top six from each series being invited to the finals as part of the Community Foundation Celebration of Sport Day.

Vialto were eventually crowned champions after a closely fought contest against Colliers in the final. Huge thanks to every team that took part in supporting the work of Bristol Bears Community Foundation.

The final standings were:

  1. Vialto
  2. Colliers
  3. Mace
  4. Knight Frank
  5. CBRE
  6. Thrings
  7. Johnson & Johnson
  8. Avent Interiors
  9. Silverback Films
  10. Spratley & Partners
  11. Bishop Fleming
  12. Cushman & Wakefield

Series teams:

Blackstar Solutions, Carter Jonas, Forest Traffic, Hydrock, LSH, Method Consulting, Offspring Films, Origin Workspace, Paramount, Stride Treglown.

Bristol Bears Community Foundation Development Manager Craig Capel said: “The money raised by our friends in the business world will support the valuable work we do across communities in the South West.

“We all very much enjoyed the chance to meet and work with new and old friends of the Foundation with each event being played in the right spirit.

“Special mention must go to Paramount, in particular Sullivan Gardiner, who helped to recruit teams and rustle up some amazing raffle prizes that contributed even further to the amount raised.”

Sulli Gardner, Paramount Business Development Manager, said: “To all the teams, thank you so much for your support over the past few months and what a way to conclude the series at Ashton Gate Stadium.

“Together we’ve not only had a load of fun but also raised a huge amount of money for Bristol Bears Community Foundation. Over £15,000 will go directly into delivering programmes that will help change the lives of people across the region.”

Finally, thank you to all the awesome local businesses that have supported the event by providing an array of high-calibre raffle prizes.
