Gallery: Pat Lam visits students at Bridge Learning Campus

Pat Lam took time out of his training schedule to visit students at Bridge Learning Campus in Hartcliffe on Wednesday.

The head coach gave an assembly on leadership to pupils from Years 10 and 11, as well as touring the school facilities to meet staff and students.

Bridge Learning Campus is home to one of Bristol Rugby Academy’s satellite sites for the Developing Player Programme (DPP), which currently engages over 750 young players across the region.

“It was fantastic for our students to have the opportunity to hear an inspirational speaker like Pat [Lam],” said assistant head teacher, Simon Postlethwaite.

“His messages really resonated with them, particularly around dealing with peer pressure and making the right decision. These students are under huge pressure with exams coming up, so they will take away some valuable lessons from Pat’s words.

“It’s brilliant how Pat has connected the club vision to the community and that he is willing to come and talk in our assembly. What was supposed to be a 25-minute address turned into 50-minutes and that shows the sort of man he is. He was engaged with the young people and he wants them to feel proud of their city and being a Bristolian.

“Our students took a huge step towards feeling connected to Bristol Rugby and we’ll take away some of the messages Pat talked about and post them around the school campus as the exam period draws closer.”
