Bristol Bears were edged out in a low-scoring affair at Kingston Park as two Brett Connon penalties in the final quarter saw Falcons take the spoils in the North East.
After a scoreless 39 minutes, Callum Chick powered over on the stroke of half-time to give the hosts a 7-0 lead following a long period of Falcons dominance.
Alapati Leiua touched down in the corner after a trademark sniping break from scrum-half Harry Randall to claw the Bears back into the contest, but after Ioan Lloyd saw his penalty attempt drift wide, Connon landed two in the space of six minutes to fire Falcons to victory and deny Pat Lam's men a losing bonus-point on the road.
