Highly-rated Thomas agrees extension to existing contract

Bristol Rugby are delighted to reveal that Dan Thomas has agreed a two-year contract extension on his existing deal.

The back rower – who has been a standout performer in his debut season with the club – commits until 2021.

Thomas has made seventeen appearances since his arrival from Gloucester in the summer, scoring three tries.

“Dan [Thomas] has been a good acquisition for the club and we know what a popular figure he is within the group and amongst supporters,” said head coach Pat Lam.

“Dan’s work-rate, skills and attitude during his first season has been exemplary and that’s been evident in his performances.

“The exciting thing for us is that Dan is still only 24 and has all the ingredients to be a world class player. He is eager to learn and understands that, if we earn promotion, he will need to keep developing his game to continue to make an impact in the Premiership.”

One of the most consistent players on the Bristol Rugby teamsheet, Thomas earned the Sky Sports man of the match for his performance in the home defeat of Bedford Blues.

He added: “I’ve loved this season under Pat [Lam] and the direction that the club is going. It’s a great environment here and everybody in the squad is pulling together with a clear vision from the coaches.

“Personally, I enjoy the style of rugby that we are playing and my game is really developing here. We are all aspiring to be successful in the Premiership and that’s where my ambition lies.

“I’ve been made to feel very welcome by my teammates and the fantastic supporters, so I look forward to the future with Bristol Rugby.”
