A second half fightback wasn’t quite enough for a Chris Vui-led Samoa, as they were narrowly beaten 44-38 by Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.
Vui, David Lemi, Jack Lam, and Alapati Leiua all featured as the Pacific islanders fought back from 32-10 down to come within six points of Gregor Townsend’s Scots in a match that featured 11 tries.
Tries from Stuart Hogg and Huw Jones plus a brace by man-of-the-match Stuart McInally put the Scots in control, with Alex Dunbar and Peter Horne also crossing for the home side in the second-half.
Samoa scored four tries following Josh Tyrell's earlier effort, while Ofisa Treviranus' opportunistic try set up a nervy final two minutes, but Gregor Townsend's men held on.
Elsewhere, Giorgi Nemsadze was on the scoresheet at Georgia thumped Canada 54-22 in Tbilisi.
The powerful forward crossed midway through the second half, as a marvelous 34-point performance from full-back, Soso Matiashvili led his country to victory at the Dinamo Arena on Saturday.
