Irish Appointed As Bristol Rugby Academy Coach

Mark Irish has joined Bristol Rugby Club as Academy Coach ahead of the 2015/16 season.

The former Bristol prop arrives from Hartpury College where he coached the AASE league winning Under 18s side, as well as working with the National One senior team.

“We are delighted to have Mark join us for the forthcoming season,” Academy Manager Mike Hall told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“As a person and coach, he exhibits all of the qualities we are looking for. Mark is a young developing coach starting out on his journey and has already garnered some valuable experience working with talented young players at London Scottish and at Hartpury College.

“Mark will be responsible for bringing through the next generation of Bristol players, working closely with the full time Academy forwards such as Ellis Genge and Joe Joyce as well as the Academy U18s".

Irish made 146 first team appearances in an eight-year tenure with Bristol Rugby, before joining London Scottish in 2012.

He added: “I’m excited to start this new challenge working with the promising talent in the Academy and to return to the Club where I spent the majority of my playing career.

“I’d like to thank Hartpury College for giving me the opportunity to coach within their rugby academy last year and I’m thankful to them for aiding my transition from playing to coaching.”
