Joyce primed and ready for action

Bristol Bears Women summer signing Jasmine Joyce is ready and raring to go as the Bears prepare to take on Exeter Chiefs on Saturday.

The speedster says the long wait for the return of rugby will be worth it and she’s proud to be pulling on the Bristol Bears jersey once again.

“We’re all buzzing to get going it’s not only been a week but seven or eight months, so everyone is looking forward to getting back out on the pitch,” said Joyce.

“Having played for Bristol before a few years ago, it’ll be a nice moment to make my second debut and do it with a lot of familiar faces.

Bears’ first game of the new campaign sees the brith of a new South West derby against the Chiefs and Joyce knows it’s going to be tough test for the group off the bat.

“I watched tgame against Gloucester-Hartpury at the weekend. They looked strong right the way from one through to 22, and we know it’s going to be a tough test for us especially with it being a derby. “

Game time as a playing group is valuable. The winger is excited cross the white line, and put into practice what she has learnt in training with some of her ‘world-class’ teammates.

“Playing and training are two very different things, so I’m excited to get onto the pitch with my new teammates in a game environment. I believe we’ve got some of the best players in the league and world, now we need to get out on the pitch, show what we’re about and get the win.

“It’s been awesome since coming in to the Bears set-up. Everyone including the players and the staff right the way through the club have been so supportive for us coming in, and we can’t wait to pull a Bristol Bears jersey on at the weekend.”
