Junior Academy rebranded to align with club vision

The Bristol Bears Junior Academy will be rebranded to reflect the unique nature of the club’s programmes and better align the Academy pathway with the club vision.

The rebrand sees the Academy’s DPP (Developing Player Programme) renamed ‘Bears Aspire’, with the PDG (Player Development Group) now known as ‘Bears Excel.’

The changes reflect the uniqueness of the Bears Junior Academy and better connects it to its vision and purpose, acknowledging the qualities and attributes of its participants.

Junior Academy Manager, Gary Townsend, said: “The challenges of COVID-19 have further demonstrated the quality of boys in the Bears family.

“Their willingness, resourcefulness and ability to stand up to adversity deserves a name which truly represents the calibre of young people in the Bears Academy.

“The programmes are partially funded by, and in partnership with the RFU, Somerset RFU & Gloucestershire RFU - a partnership which continues to be acknowledged and valued in the development of young, local rugby players.

“The change in name further strengthens that partnership, as young players aspire to excel on the club, county, and national stage.”
