Bristol Rugby have moved quickly to sign scrum half Tom Kessell from Cornish Pirates on a short-term deal.
With Luke Baldwin leaving the Club, Robinson brings in the 24 year-old from Mennaye Field for the remainder of the season.
Kessell will be loaned back to Pirates with immediate effect, but will be available for Bristol before the end of the campaign.
A member of the Championship XV that played Canada in November 2014, Kessell is a standout player at this level and has made over one-hundred first team appearances for Cornish Pirates.
“We’re pleased to be able to bring Tom into the squad and we thank Cornish Pirates for their co-operation,” Director of Rugby Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.
“We were a bit light in that position, so Tom’s arrival gives us more options at scrum half as we reach the business end of the campaign.
“Tom is a very talented young player who knows the Championship – and the play-offs - well. He’s a player that has performed to a high standard and it’s no surprise he has attracted the attentions of Premiership clubs.
“We would love to keep him here, but haven’t discussed anything further than the end of the season at this stage.
