Kevin Geary appointed Head of Strength & Conditioning

Bristol Bears are delighted to announce that Kevin Geary will join as Head of Strength & Conditioning ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

The hugely experienced 33-year-old joins Director of Rugby Pat Lam’s backroom staff from Ulster, after thirteen years with Irish Rugby (IRFU).

Geary will be tasked with driving the physical performance of the Bears squad in what promises to be another uncompromising season of Gallagher Premiership rugby.

“We’re delighted to welcome Kevin onboard. He impressed us with his rugby philosophy and he understands the vision of Bristol Bears and the standards we are striving to reach,” said Lam.

“Kevin has a wealth of experience at the highest level of the domestic game and a proven track record in maximising the physical performance of his players. We’re excited to see the energy and impetus he’ll bring to our team.”

Prior to his time at the Kingspan Stadium, Geary spent three years with Munster as S&C coach. He holds a degree in Business & Sport from CIT and an MSc in Sports Science from UCD.

“Kevin has a wealth of experience at the highest level of the domestic game and a proven track record in maximising the physical performance of his players."

Pat Lam, Director of Rugby

He added: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most ambitious clubs in the northern hemisphere. I’ve heard really positive things about the Bears and I’m relishing the chance to contribute to the club vision as we move forward.

“There’s absolute clarity from Pat Lam on what is expected of the S&C team and it’s my responsibility to ensure those goals are met – that’s a challenge that I’m looking forward to and the values of Bristol Bears and closely aligned to my own.

“I’m hugely grateful to Ulster, Munster and Irish Rugby for a fantastic time and now I’m excited about the next chapter; focusing on world class performance standards and getting to know the Bristol community.”
