Lam and Leiua score in convincing Samoa play-off win

Jack Lam and Alapati Leiua touched down as Samoa stormed to a 66-15 first-leg Rugby World Cup play-off victory in Apia on Saturday.

Jack Lam, Tusi Pisi, Alapati Leiua and Jordan Lay all featured, while Chris Vui captained the side in the one-sided affair.

It didn't take long for the hosts to show their dominance, as they led 35-3 at the break.

Leiua and Lam's tries were added to by Melani Matavao (2), Iosefa Tekori, Dwayne Polataivaia, as well as a penalty try.

The second leg will be played in Heidelberg in two weeks' time with the overall winner qualifying for the 2019 tournament in pool A, joining Ireland, Scotland, hosts Japan and Russia in Pool A.

The loser will be forced to play in the repechage tournament against three other nations for one last chance to qualify.
